About You
Truly a fantastic week, in which I made many friends as well as contacts that will come in useful in the future.
The firm really wanted to treat the week as the first stage in joining it, so we were given ample chances to speak with staff as well as advice on how to succeed in completing this goal.
I felt that there was always a lot of staff members there to guide us through each of the activities so in that sense - help was there when needed.
Builds on what I have learnt so far in my course. The case study really was a good example of how real life M&A operated.
The Company
Timetabled from start to finish, it was clear that they had been through the programme on several other occasions. There was a good mix of activities that kept everyone occupied.
Surprised at how well I got along with many of the people there. Definitely a strong rapport between participants, which made the time there more enjoyable.
Really allowed us to understand each section of the firm and how it operated - thus putting us in a better position to pick the area that would interest us in the future. They considered this week as the first step in a long relationship with us.
This was communicated clearly through the presentations that were shown as well as just speaking with the staff during the networking sessions.
It was clear by the end of the week what time of firm BoA was. I really appreciated the genuine and frank answers given by the analysts - refreshing to hear!
Made me realise that this is the direction I want to be headed in. Also made me aware of areas to work on between now and applying for an internship.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed travel costs.
A lot of opportunity to speak with HR, analysts, associates, VPs, MDs, essentially everyone on the corporate ladder!
Enjoyable for the most part, although I had almost run out of things to ask by the end of the week. A more formal dinner was a stand-out event for me.
The staff apparently engage in a lot of social activities in terms of sports and cultural events. This was good to know - provided you had time to participate that is.
Great event where you can start to build up a network within the industry, more importantly, to learn more about whether the financial sector is right for you.
