About You
The event was perfectly organised. The program included work-shadowing which is really important in understanding what people in investment banking actually do.
The people that presented to us really tried to be as helpful as possible, answering tens of questions and giving examples with personal experience.
The HR team made everything possible to provide us with accommodation, food and support throughout the week. All in all, we were there to learn about banking and not spend 3-4 hours a day commuting and shopping in the supermarket. Really well supported program!
I study Mathematics and Statistics so the investment banking industry didn't add anything to my studies. However, I gained a lot of knowledge about accounting, managing clients, researching companies etc. The training provided in the beginning of the week was, in my opinion, enough for a person who has never studied finance/accounting to understand the nature of an investment bank.
The Company
As I mentioned above everything was well-organised. My online remark is that I wish we didn't have the same rotations twice. In my case, I had two Global Restructuring Group rotations. Not that two of them were too much, but I believe getting an insight into one more division of the bank would have been even more useful.
Check my facebook friends now- I've recently added over 35 people. Really interesting personalities from different universities. Also, I believe the fact that we had common exercises with the guys from Operations and Technology deepens the integrity of the company in the future.
They gave us a lot of materials to learn from. I mentioned before that we were provided with everything for the week, so the investment RBS makes in its interns is huge.
Having 4 rotations on 3 different desks gave me the chance to speak to graduates who have been working in RBS for around 1 year. Watching what they do on a daily basis was crucial.
The fact that many senior people came to talk to us shows RBS meritocratic atmosphere.
Having the chance to talk with people from the industry really influenced me and made me more confident that I want to work in the investment banking sector.
Everything Else
Provided us apartment for 7 nights although the program lasted 5 days which was great.
Yes there were, mentioned above.
Great, informative and I had a lot of fun.
Yes, we took part in a CSR event, helping mentally challenged people develop leadership and team skills.
YES.
