The Role
A great place to work due to quality or work and non-work related activities. There were a lot of opportunities to enhance the experience
I felt part of a team and the wor I did was always appreciated
I had a monthly appraisal to work out how I could make the most of my placement and constantly had contact with my supervisor. I also had a mentor for anything else I wanted to discuss.
Often quiet but I was never left without anything to do
The more trust I built up in my team the more responsibility I had.
I have learnt really valuable skills that will help me in whatever career I go on to.
The Company
There was a great social side to the office and the open plan layout meant everyone interacted with each other from Partner to legal PA.
Great induction process with trainee solicitors and monitoring throughout
I attended trainee training for my department and there were always updates for anyone in the office to attend. Except for a small session at the beginning for IT and legal research there was no other specific gap year training.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
With the connections built up and communication will be maintained throoughout university I hope to return to the firm.
The Culture
There were always drinks every Friday night with the trainees and socials such as a cocktail master class. I found the netball team very social and made some good friends there. There was a social budget for my team so there was regular drinks events and the christmas parties were brilliant.
Pretty average cost of living in Leeds obviously a lot cheaper than London but it depends what kind of lifestyle you want to live.
There are so many great bars and restaurants in Leeds but then I come from York so it seems a lot in comparison.
There were a lot of opportunities to get involved in corporate responsibility, I went to a local school to be a maths mentor each week and spent a day with primary school children at Headingly cricket ground. There were also a lot of charity events on days such as red nose day and comic relief. The sports teams are also a great part of the firm.
