The Role
I have really enjoyed my time on placement with Panasonic. I have been able to get involved with new tasks and take on responsibilities on a daily basis and I get on really well with the people in my team.
I always feel valued by my colleagues, we all get on really well and I am always thanked for my contributions.
The support I have been given is great! I had a 2 week handover with the previous placement student in my role, she went through all my daily tasks and introduced me to people around the office to make me settle in as easily as possible. I also received training on the email system and other daily systems I use as well as health and safety training and an introduction to the company.
It varied throughout the year. However, when it is usually a good balance, there is enough work to do without becoming stressed but there is never a chance to be bored. If there ever was a day when I had little on I always asked people in other departments or product managers about anything else I could get involved in.
I was given a high level of responsibility from day 1, dealing with customer and retailer queries. I have been trusted by members of the team to create and send important nformation onto retailers directly.
I have developed on so many skills during my placement such as verbal and written communication, team work, building customer relations. Training that has been provided to me whilst on placement includes; Advanced Microsfot Excel, PowerPoint, Presentation Skills, Manual Handling, Time Management, Assertiveness and Project Management. This will all be vital to my final year at University and future career.
The Company
There are some quiet days but most of the time there is a lot going on. The office has a very upbeat, social atmosphere.
The placement set up was organised very well. Once all students in the company had confirmed their position we were added to a Facebook group where we could get to know each other. Pansonic also organised an orientation day where we all met up and got to socialise with the new and current placement students and meet the team. On the second day of the orientation, for those who wanted to we went house hunting for somewhere to stay whilst on placement.
Extensive training was offered throughout the placement from general manual handling and training about the company, to training on various microsoft packages as well as personal development training.

I would be really interested in joining the company again after my final year of University.
The Culture
Yes, we usually have lunch together and meet up outside of work too. Some of us live together in Reading too.
The rent for a student house in Reading is about £70 per week.
We usually go on nights out in Reading to places such as Lolalo's and Evissa. We always have a good time.
The placement students usually go out a lot together outside of work, to the cinema or out for food.
