About You
Very friendly and helpful atmosphere, everyone was willing to answer any question you had.
Clearly devoted a lot of time to organising the week and making sure we gained relevant insight.
Everyone was given a trainee mentor for the week who they could contact if they had any problems or queries. The graduate recruitment staff were never far and always made sure to ask how your day had been.
Clearly communicated the values of teamwork, business knowledge and client focus that are needed in any firm such as this.
The Company
Varied sessions with a clear program meant you gained a broad picture of the firm without being stressed.
Friendly, approachable atmosphere but with a clear work ethic.
Range of different skill workshops e.g. negotiation, talks and a day dedicated to a mock application process. Really felt like they had put a lot of work into putting the week together and making sure we had a productive experience.
Although it was only a week long, the work shadowing particularly allowed me to experience life as a trainee at the firm and the approachable atmosphere and Q&A sessions meant you gained a good understanding of the roles in the firm at all levels.
It was clear right from the start that Hogan Lovells encourages a culture focused very much on being a team player and valuing the clients.
The varied talks, including ones on their pro bono work and how the City works, illustrated the many facets of working as a solicitor, and really confirmed that I was on the right path.
Everything Else
Having not expected to be paid for this it was a pleasant surprise, and they were quite happy to cover by Oyster card costs.
They got a lot of different employees, including partners, to present the different morning sessions so there was ample opportunity to ask questions and talk to them. Furthermore, they arranged a dinner with some partners one evening, which was an excellent opportunity.
As above.
They gave a session on the pro bono work undertaken at Hogan Lovells which was very informative and clearly showed that there was a lot you could get involved in. Furthermore, the trainees mentioned various sports teams and there was an on-site gym with various classes.
It was an invaluable experience that has really motivated me to work hard and apply to other vacation schemes in the future.
