About You
Given a variety tasks to be getting on with for the entire scheme which was challenging but fufilling at the same time.
I was given meaningful tasks to be completed rather than mundane tasks which was rewarding. Also got to know my supervisor and others quite well, so I felt I left with a clear idea of how a trainee would be expected to work at the firm.
The supervisor allocated to me was very helpful and seemed to not mind my questioning.
Allowed me to figure out that this is the direction that I want to go in for my career. I especially felt that a smaller firm such as SS provided a great work environment as well.
The Company
Very well done - all the staff were aware that we were meant to be there and so made us feel very welcome.
Hardworking bunch of people who all had similar interests which was fantastic.
I felt that a particular emphasis was placed on the recruitment process i.e. relating to how to succeed in applying for a summer vacation scheme/training contract etc. Really useful info!
Through speaking with staff at the firm in the various opportunities that presented themselves, I found that by in large everyone spoke highly of the firm, and were frank in their opinions, which was great to hear.
Really an ongoing thing for me, by the end I sort of could piece together the culture of the firm. It left me pleasantly surprised.
Reaffirmed my desire to pursue law as a career choice
Everything Else
Enough to cover expenses (for me at least)
Got to meet quite a few trainees who spoke about their experiences during their short time at the firm, as well as some senior personnel.
Really relaxed, and always someone available to talk to. Felt like there was no pressure for people to talk if they just wanted to take a breather.
I was told about some community work that was available on a voluntary basis, although I am sure that there are chances to play sports etc.
A must if you would like to experience a City law firm from the inside.
