The Role
Every day brought something new to me - a new experience or someone new to work with. I had interesting projects and people to work with. This kept me busy througout my placement.
Hugely important to me and a real plus to any placement - my work provided real value to the team and wider community
There was a lot of support available but this is something you have to go out and seek whenever you have a problem. My supervisor was very helpful and always had time to show me how go about completing my work.
Reasonably busy - but I never had to work too late. I think 7oclock was my latest finish time. That being said, there were some very committed managers who stayed later
Given responsibility for customer cases as well as project work, working with only one other person given responsibility for handling a budget and making sure results were delivered on time!
Able to take Microsoft examinations free of charge and also company delivered training throughout the year
The Company
Fun, Laid back and supportive! Work hard, but play hard too!
Excellent - buddy assigned to me at the start of placement and in team mentor throughout the year ensuring I was always on the right track
There were a few training courses I went on - however a lot of training is done online through electronic courses. I guess this is cheaper for the firm
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Working from home
The Graduate Scheme at Microsoft isn't for me but for those it is catered for its a fantastic scheme giving a mixture of hands on training and a chance to mix with people from all around the world!
The Culture
Great social scene we had friday drinks together and then hit the town later.
quite high! But liveable! You should share accomodation where possible
Reading is a large town however as a university town it has its fair share of nightlife and London is only half an hour away
Not much - probably because I never seeked any
