The Role
It was extremely enjoyable. Working in teams of likeminded people for the Summer in a great environment.
The work we were doing felt like it was having a real impact on the business and everyone across the site were interested and extremely helpful throughout.
Each team had specific mentors along with our placement manager and so many other people from other deparements that wanted to get involved with the project. The support from all of these people was invaluble in getting the results we did.
As the business intern, I had some quieter days and some busier days at the start of the placement. Towards the end though I was extremely busy every day. It was managable though and balanced out throughout the Summer.
We were given entire responsibilites for our projects. We were given as much guidence and advice as we asked for but all key decisions were made my us.
Since going back to University for my final year, the skills I developed over the Summer have been invaluable. The presentation skills, professional writing skills, team working, project management and general time management skills have made a notable difference to my studies.
The Company
All 16 interns worked in the same office for the Summer. The atmosphere was excellent not only from a social perspective but from a professional one aswell. People from all across the site also regularly visited the Extreme Blue office to offer help, advice and general support.
Very organised.
We had a placement manager who met with us regularly to discuss our project and personal progress and also helped us to decide how to apply back to the company for Graduate positions.

Working from home
I was offered a Graduate job and so were the majority of people from the placement.
The Culture
We all lived in the same accomodation and were all very similar ages so it was very good.
The accomodation was paid for by IBM. Winchester itself is relatively pricey but very comfortable off the salary.
Not great but not bad, some really nice pubs for the evenings and nice restauraunts etc. Ventured to the local club a few times but very close to Southampton if you want a bigger night!
Yes, lots!
