About You
Very good insight into the company, industry and division. Gave me confidence that it was the industry I wanted to go into and I can definitely see myself working here in the future.
We were given ample opportunity to demonstrate our abilities and enthusiasm for the subject matter. We were given real projects that the firm wanted genuine feedback on, with the opportunity to genuinely contribute.
There were plenty of ways to get feedback and support throguhout the program. It involved plenty of work shadowing, seminar and discussion opportunities. They had a "buddy" scheme in place whereby we were paired with someone in the division who wasn't judging us for a job opportunity, simply supporting us through the process.
It was a great learning opportunity for the business and corporate side of my skillset, the experience was not long enough to fully expand into any new knowledge of my degree studies.
The Company
There was a very well defined and fulfilled schedule of activities throughout the program. We were given ample opportunity to learn and demonstrate our knowledge throughout the two weeks.
Everyone enjoyed the work and learning experience. Even those who ultimately decided that it might not be for them gave the impression that they enjoyed it nonetheless. They definitely looked after us and worked tirelessly to ensure we had fun whilst also assessing our ability to work within their organisation.
They put on a very full schedule of events, lectures, shadowing and open ended projects to complete. They also provided plenty of networking opportunities.
Wtih work shadowing and plenty of interactive talks, we were able to get a broad range of very realistic opinions from placement scheme students, through new analysts and those who have been here for a few years, right the way up to managing directors with 20 years experience in the company.
Company culture was a key theme throughout the scheme and it was apparent not just in the talk about it but the general atmosphere and environment we were in throguhout the scheme.
It gave me huge insight and allowed me to understand my own position within the industry and companny.
Everything Else
Given a reasonable amount of money for food and put up in a 4 star hotel for 2 weeks!
Plenty of networking, shadowing and Q&A events.
Lots of opportunities for us to meet with other interns, events put on with refreshments and so on.
Plenty of community involvement, volunteering and public outreach programs.
I feel bad that some of my friends who applied didn't get it, genuinely worthwhile experience that I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to enter the industry.
