About You
Hard work, as to be expected, but not unreasonable.
Very welcome - even MDs found time to meet me.
Constant support from all levels of the division. They want you to succeed.
I have never learned so much in such a short space of time.
The Company
Excellent, with plenty of opportunity to arrange meetings with employees independently.
It was very much a work-oriented internship rather than networking-/fun-oriented. Having said which, I have made some very close friends - but it was up to us to arrange networking activities with our peers.
Excellent training materials provided.
We can't have access to everything that employees do due to Chinese Walls and the complex nature of their work, but where it was possible we could shadow analysts.
Spending two weeks on a desk is the best way to understand what it's like to work here.
It's very much an insight into what it's like to work here, so you should come away with an idea of whether you would like to pursue a career at the firm.
Everything Else
If you're proactive then you can meet as many people as you like from your division. However, it's difficult to meet people in different divisions.
The events were fun, but very minimal (one per week).
We learnt about the charity events but not much about social life of the employees - I don't think that's a question I would ask analysts I've only known for a couple of weeks!
Amazing way to learn more about working in finance in general and accelerate the development of your own skills. The fast-paced, inspiring and challenging environment would be difficult to find elsewhere.
