About You
It was very useful to learn more about the culture of the firm and about a specific department.
While I was given genuine work and helped people out, with a week long scheme it would perhaps be difficult to be genuinely valued since everything is about learning what is going on.
Trainees and associates were very happy to offer advice.
The scheme was hugely helpful in terms of commercial awareness and learning about the legal profession.
The Company
Very well structured, lots of induction talks and welcome/leaving drinks.
The department was very friendly, as was graduate recruitment, and we were made to feel very welcome.
The firm gave us lots of induction talks which are useful because much will apply to other firms. The negotiation and drafting workshops were particularly helpful.
I think I got a good insight into life in a law firm, particularly Simmons & Simmons - this was important to me since I had not had experience in a law firm before.
I think I already knew a significant amount on law firm structure from prior talks - but the timeline of a trainee was very helpfully explained.
The scheme certainly affirmed by desire to work in a law firm like Simmons & Simmns.
Everything Else
Yes we are paid £250, which was useful for covering expenses.
Yes, there were drinks events and speed-networking.
Very good - there was a drinks event on the first day and at the end and several lunches.
Particularly the gym which people seemed to enjoy.
Absolutely - it was very education and fun at the same time.
