About You
This was an invaluable opportunity to discover about all the divisions of the bank, and to talk to many different business representatives to understand what their roles actually covered.
Everyone in the firm was very friendly and always took the time to talk with us. Networking usually happened during lunch time and there was also a whole dinner organised in the City with business representatives.
We were always guided by the Graduate Recruitment Team and business representatives about what we should do, since the Spring Insight actually involved several teamworks.
As a student in a Business School, I am quite used of the skills developed during the Insight (group presentation, interview preparations...) but the information received were very relevant.
The Company
The Spring Insight was very well organised so that we had always things to do and we never wasted our time.
The atmosphere with the other students was very relaxed, though a bit different culturally from a foreigner perspective (we were only 5 students studying outside of the UK out of a class of 62 people)
The firm made a lot of investment in providing us with skill sessions, and even brought some people from the outside such as for the Unconscious Bias Session.
As the name suggests, the Insight was pretty insightful to have an idea about what full time role involved, though we could not actually come inside of the offices and work within the teams.
I think I understood the culture of Bank of America Merrill Lynch and I must say this seems to be a very good place to work.
It actually helped me to put my career path into perspective, since I discovered new divisions I might have an interested in.
Everything Else
All travel expenses were reimbursed, including the flight tickets, and also the accommodation for people coming from abroad or outside of London. There were also breakfast at the firm every morning, a lunch provided each day, a welcome drinks in a pub and a closing dinner in the City.
There were many opportunities to meet other employees, though you should sometimes catch the people after the conferences since there was not always proper networking sessions organised.
The networking events allowed plenty of time to meet and talk with people from the banks. Do not hesitate to take the business cards of the people you want to keep in touch with! I regret I did not take some cards.
There are a lot of opportunities to pactise sport and to be involved in Diversity networks.
This Insight is really valuable for someone who knows s/he wants to work within the financial industry, but still doesn't exactly know which division is fit for him or her. I would definitely recommend other people to take part in this Insight!
