About You
Really nice group of interns and the firm is very friendly and approachable. Work was interesting and relevant to the department I was in.
You definitely get a sense that the work you do is valued and has been of use to the department.
Everyone is given a supervisor, but you have to be willing to be proactive in asking for help etc. Graduate Recruitment are always around/available to ask questions to as well.
We were given a talk on the application process which will certainly be helpful when applying for training contracts. As a non-law student, I'm not sure how helpful Employment Law specific knowledge will be helpful to my degree, so I would say the skills I developed will hopefully be of use in the future.
The Company
Given a timetable at the start of the week, very clear what you were meant to do at what time. Lots of talks and activities organised with time spent in your department.
Simmons is a very friendly firm. Everyone in my department was approachable and willing to help/give advice.
You get several opportunities to meet members of the firm from different levels and to ask questions e.g. in a Speed Networking activity.
Talks and networking allowed you to understand the values and culture of the firm.
Everything Else
I think we were paid £250 but no expenses.
We had two drinks parties which were quite informal and gave you a chance to meet people on a more social basis.
We didn't really find out about clubs etc run by the firm.
Yes, you get a good insight into Simmons and it looks good on your CV.
