About You
There were loads of activities and opportunities to network both with other participants of the insight week and employees at RBS, and I learned a lot about how RBS functions as a company and about the aspirations of the Group over the coming years.
At the end of the week we were asked to brainstorm an event that the recruitment team could run - our suggestions were noted and taken quite seriously!
The employees that I shadowed were extremely supportive and open to questions, and we were assigned a mentor for the week who was on the Grad scheme - mine was happy to give us a professional's opinion during our group project discussions and easy to talk to.
My commercial awareness has definitely been improved, and we had workshops on soft skills such as giving presentations as well as on communicating etc- these were really useful.
The Company
We were given a timetable at the start of the week and every day had different activities planned.
All of the participants were very enthusiastic and the members of staff that we encountered seemed to value the Spring Week very highly which led to a comfortable and productive environment.
We were given workshops on various topics as a group - these were really really useful!
I was allowed to job shadow in Risk, Business Services and GIA. In each department we were able to ask questions, see the projects that were being worked on etc.
We were given a brief outline of the structure at the start of the week, and it because very apparent once we started job shadowing.
Everything Else
I live within the M25, so I did not qualify for any reimbursements.
We had three networking sessions and I met loads of people during the job shadowing section of the week.
We had three networking sessions and I met loads of people during the job shadowing section of the week.
When talking to some of the graduates working for RBS, they mentioned being part of a football league and so on as well as outlining other opportunities that they take to socialise outside work.
I had an amazing time and it's really helped to confirm the aspirations that I have for my future career.
