The Role
Overall the internship was a really enjoyable experience, doing valuable and interesting work, and having a lot of fun whilst doing so.
Our mentors had proposed the projects that we worked on, and therefore had a vested interest in our input and ideas in order to get the project done.
Our manager was extremely helpful and approachable, as well as being fun to work with. We also each had mentors on our projects to help with the technical details of the work.
Always lots to do, but there was also a balance of different things to do each day in order to get the project completed.
We worked in teams of 4 students and we had complete responsibility over the project we were assigned.
Important technical skills learnt, such as several programming languages, as well as business skills such as presenting and pitching ideas, working with important clients and writing business plans,a white paper and technical documentation.
The Company
We had an office for all the overruns working on the projects, which had a laid back and friendly atmosphere, but also created motivation to work hard.

Working from home
Was offered a job after successful project pitches detailing what we had worked on over the 12 weeks to executives within the company.
The Culture
All the intends were offered accommodation together, and so socially we all had a lot of fun together and got on incredibly well.
Accommodation at Winchester uni was organised and paid for by IBM, which was extremely useful! However Winchester is quite an expensive place to socialise in.
A few pubs but not really much nightlife in Winchester. Can get to Southampton reasonably easily though.
