About You
It is a fantastic chance to learn: about the financial industry, about investment banks, about UBS.
Treated like an employee for the duration of the week.
We were given a very detailed booklet to support us during presentations. All events had the chance for questions and interactive tasks would have employees circulating to help. Any general questions were answered by HR.
It is an excellent platform for a career in the financial industry. The work shadowing (most areas 1-on-1 ) is rare for a Spring Week and proves to future employers that you have an understanding of your future job.
The Company
Everything was structured to precision. All events started and finished on time and the timetable given at the start was followed for the whole week. UBS Insights has been running for a few years and this came across.
The idea to rotate tables means you meet lots of very bright and friendly individuals across the week. My impression was that those in the same division could appear competitive at some points, knowing that the week was leading onto an assessment centre. However, this also makes you appreciate that they may be your future colleagues.
Lots of great speakers as well as a social event. It is clear that the firm invested a lot in the Insights programme.
Very helpful - particularly the work shadowing which allows you to ask questions to an employee and see a typical day of theirs.
The culture was certainly at the forefront of the programme. All speakers would make reference to this in their talks and the Q&A that followed. There was also a separate talk by Community Affairs to highlight this.
Very helpful.
Everything Else
The firm does not reimburse expenses if you live in London, which can be a negative given the high cost of transport.
Networking Lunch, Speed Networking and Work shadowing provided adequate opportunities.
Social event on the second evening that was enjoyable.
Talk on Community Affairs and volunteering opportunities within the firm.
Great foundation for a career.
