About You
Quite an enjoyable week, lots of great people on the programme as well - have stayed in contact with many. In terms of exposure to the investment banking side of the firm - it was truly great.
We were treated really well, I felt, for the entire duration of the week. Many staff also invested a lot of time throughout the course of the week which also meant a lot.
Did not really have any major issues, however the HR department were really good in answering questions about what was going on etc.
Received a lot of general advice regarding interpersonal skills - this will come in handy in the future, in a proper job environment.
The Company
A generally well put together schedule that ran as timetabled, a good balance of networking and presentations was provided as well.
Great people to be around for the most part. I must admit that some people took the task at hand slightly too seriously though.
Most importantly, we were able to shadow grads in a day-to-day environment, this was particularly useful for getting a better picture of the work that is done.
Very much realised that it is about long hours at a top tier IB. I had to wake up particularly early on one day (earlier that 7am).
Helpful in developing a personal understanding/appreciation for the culture there - since all firms essentially fire out the same buzzwords.
Helped me build upon my knowledge of the industry.
Everything Else
Several opportunities to mix with both senior staff and grads to ask about anything really. It was really insightful to hear an MD talk about their experience at the firm.
Great atmosphere in a diverse range of settings such as lunches/coffee breaks/dinners etc. Food provided was really good as well.
At a competitive firm like JP, although I was told of available opportunities to participate in sports, this is purely dependent on workload.
Yes, this is ideal if you are seeking a role in the financial services industry in general. JPM is a household name that will hopefully make you stand out from the rest in the future.
