    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Some of the sessions were a bit dull, but I liked the other people, it was great to meet everyone in HR although they could have had more of a presence and I did leave with a clear idea of what working at Barclays entails, which was my aim.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • We were regularly reminded how competitive the scheme was

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We were able to ask questions at any stage and had a few workshops/ activities although some were a bit pointless

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Got on with most of the people there

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a trading stimulation game, a talk on how to give a pitch, lots of very senior speakers and lots of other opportunities within the week.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • We met a variety of people from the business and had two shadowing rotations on the last day.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • We met a variety of people from the business and had two shadowing rotations on the last day.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We were given £250 for the week which was to cover our travel and food (which worked out as significantly less). Travel to/ from London was also reimbursed.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Lots of employees came to talk to us throughout the week and there were two networking events within our timetables.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • We had two, the first one was just us and HR, it was a bit dry with HR just sitting on a table by themselves and not really interacting with us. The second followed a talk by Sally Gunnell with lots of senior representatives from the business and was really good - although the room was really hot!

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • The Diversity Networks were mentioned and ambassadors present at some of the networking events but it wasn't really talked about and to be honest I wasn't that interested.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Not as good as ones where you spend the week shadowing, but beneficial if you are complete beginner to the world of investment banking!

    4/5
