About You
Some of the sessions were a bit dull, but I liked the other people, it was great to meet everyone in HR although they could have had more of a presence and I did leave with a clear idea of what working at Barclays entails, which was my aim.
We were regularly reminded how competitive the scheme was
We were able to ask questions at any stage and had a few workshops/ activities although some were a bit pointless
Clear insight into Barclays, how their schemes operate and the different divisions and opportunities offered
The Company
We were issued with a full timetable of what we'd be doing at the start
Got on with most of the people there
We had a trading stimulation game, a talk on how to give a pitch, lots of very senior speakers and lots of other opportunities within the week.
We met a variety of people from the business and had two shadowing rotations on the last day.
We met a variety of people from the business and had two shadowing rotations on the last day.
We got a real insight into how Barclays is as a firm, the culture, the opportunities and who works there.
Everything Else
We were given £250 for the week which was to cover our travel and food (which worked out as significantly less). Travel to/ from London was also reimbursed.
Lots of employees came to talk to us throughout the week and there were two networking events within our timetables.
We had two, the first one was just us and HR, it was a bit dry with HR just sitting on a table by themselves and not really interacting with us. The second followed a talk by Sally Gunnell with lots of senior representatives from the business and was really good - although the room was really hot!
The Diversity Networks were mentioned and ambassadors present at some of the networking events but it wasn't really talked about and to be honest I wasn't that interested.
Not as good as ones where you spend the week shadowing, but beneficial if you are complete beginner to the world of investment banking!
