About You
I really enjoyed the insight because I learnt about how a law firm works in practise and has confirmed my ambition to work in a law firm in the future.
The staff at the firm didn't treat me like an inferior and gave me work that would've been expected from anyone else which made me valued and I felt able to ask for help if needed.
Even though some of the time I was doing independent research, I knew that I would be able to ask for support if i encountered a problem.
I improved my ability in presenting an arguement that helps me during debates in my law classes.
The Company
There was a clear programme, it could've been improved if we had a choice of which department to work in but I still enjoyed where I worked.
All the staff were willing to help and there was a strong community atmosphere so I was able to enjoy the job I was doing.
There were various members of staff doing different things giving us insight into how I could improve what I'd done which I found really helpful, seeing things from a different perspective.
I didn't learn about day to day work when working in a law firm but I learnt about the overview of things but it would've been great to get an insight on the day to day workings.
I learnt about the different things that each law firm offers and that it is important to choose the right law firm to benefit both parties.
I definitely want to pursue a legal career.
Everything Else
I was paid for the full week.
There were a variety of different people during the course of the week so it was an excellent opportunity to meet and exchange details with other employees.
There wasn't a lot of time for networking, we had to do as of then and there; there wasn't a specific event for it.
I learnt that law firms get heavily involved in charity work and pro bono work to benefit the local communities and charities chosen by the employees which gave it a more personal touch.
Even if they were not interested in a legal career, the skills that I've learnt could be applied to a whole range of jobs of it is definitely worth taking thwe insight.
