About You
I really enjoyed the insight. There was one day where I felt unvalued and patronised, and I considered not returning. However, aside from that, I thought it was well-structured, informative and a great opportunity to meet new people.
I felt like an outsider, and the emphasis was put on getting in on the summer internship which I didn't think was very good. I wanted to value the week that I was there regardless of any outcome, because it was an achievement to get onto the programme in the first place. Right from the start it became about getting onto the Summer programme, so the emphasis was that we were not yet part of the firm.
There was a lot of structural guidance (i.e. timetabling) and also networking workshops and insights into the bank.
I am a French and Art History student and so most of the information was irrelevant.
The Company
The structure was very well executed.
The insight wasn't too competitive, and I thought there was energy throughout.
There was a great programme of training and development for the first couple of days, which was a large percentage of the insight week.
We spent 90 minutes on each rotation. I don't think you get any indication of what your job would actually be like, merely the role of each desk.
The company culture was clear to see, and was excellent (supportive, one of excellence, conscientious, excellence)
Everything Else
I thought it was slightly unfair that I had to pay for travel within London when those who lived outside the M25 were offered accommodation and travel costs. However, I felt worse for those who lived in Zone 5 and just inside the M25 and who had to make a very long journey each day. Considering the early starts and late finishes, I think this may well have jeopardised their chances.
Only graduates, but there were plenty of those
Mixed. Some networking lunches were provided, but apart from that it was only on the rotations, and there were enormously varying levels of acceptance and welcoming from the graduates themselves.
Only CSR. Very little else was demonstrated.
I enjoyed the placement, but I thought thought that the feedback system was poor.
