About You
It was great to spend two days with the HSF, my first experience with a city law firm, to gain an insight into what was involved, changing my future decisions.
Was instructed to carry out actual work during my second day at HSF what I was not expecting. Was told that this work would actually be used by partners which made me feel that I had contributed.
Despite having to carry out a task, one that was completely new to me, this was explained to me so that I felt comfortable tackling it.
Received information on applications to the firm and took part in a networking event which will help in the future.
The Company
A timetable was given to us on the morning of the first day and was stuck to throughout. Always knew what was happening, when and where.
All the employees were welcoming and built up a good rapport with me even over just two days. It was clear that they had good working relationships.
Numerous employees of the firm were present throughout the workshop and I even had the opportunity to shadow one on one a trainee solicitor for the afternoon of the second day. I therefore felt they had invested significant time in me.
Carrying out actually work as well as workshops with case studies provided my first insight into working with a city firm.
Could clearly see that the company had a good, friendly and welcoming culture which was positive.
Workshops, talks and shadowing all showed what a career in a city law firm would be like so was extremely valuable.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed train travel expenses. Taxis and accommodation were paid for.
A networking event on the evening of the second day with solicitors and partners was both fun and useful.
A networking event on the evening of the second day with solicitors and partners was both fun and useful.
The workshop was more about finding out about what it would be like to work with the firm although the tour of the office showed some of the non-work activities that employees can get involved in as did talking to the solicitors especially at the networking event.
Had a great time and found that it was extremely useful.
