About You
The week overall was great fun. The work shadowing available is incredibly insightful - for an introduction to each department within the organisation.
Everyone that you shadow, or network with treats you as equal, and are so willing to answer questions, and want to get to know you and your background in order to help you more.
HR were always around and available to answer questions and to give the right guidance and support as well. There was nothing too big or too small that they would not try and tackle
You learn skills that you can take to Assessment Centres and Interviews, hence these transferable skills can also be used in a University environment.
The Company
Sometimes, presentations or panels would overrun, however, this was often not a problem as the employees preferred to answer questions.
Everyone was friendly, both people on the insight week and employees at BAML.
I had the chance to shadow a recent graduate - this was particularly useful in imagining what it would be like to work there.
I was able to talk to many different people in all the different roles and asked then what it would be like to have a full time role in the company.
We got to see all aspects of the company, not only the business side but also all the networks and out of work socializing.
Really confirmed my interest in the financial services and I now see it as a target that I would like to work towards in the future.
Everything Else
Everyday we were able to speak to people from the firm during lunch and at dinner.
There were a number of networking events available - evening drinks on one night, a full meal on another - and indeed work shadowing and lunches.
During the work shadowing session, we were able to find out more about life outside of work. BAML also organise environmental/charity events for full-time employees.
Looks terrific on your CV - definitely worth the time and effort to apply for!
