About You
The first day was a bit hectic with little time to breathe, but that was to be expected with everyone travelling into London, and in such a large organisation. I really enjoyed the variety of activities, from corporate M&A workshops to shadowing a trainee.
Everyone was happy to stop and talk, from associates to senior partners! They really made you feel like they wanted to work with you in the future, and that they valued all our opinions.
All my questions and concerns were answered in the nicest way possible. I even learnt about things and practice areas that I had never heard of
A lot of useful skills, from networking, negotiating, to general knowledge about different areas of law that were explained in a simple, yet comprehensive way.
The Company
We did run behind schedule at times, which meant allocated time elsewhere was lost. However, I don't feel that it had a massive impact on the overall experience.
All the representatives were very welcoming, and the other people on the insight were friendly, I definitely made some good friends that I hope to see again on the circuit.
We received a workshop on the application process, and what to include in order to stand out to the firm.
I shadowed a trainee in the disputes resolution department, and others were in departments such as real estate, corporate, so you got a real feel for the every day work you would be hopefully doing as a trainee in the firm.
We had a presentation from a partner about the culture of the firm, but there wasn't much else other than that.
I have much more direction now in terms of the type of firm I want to work for, and the area I'd like to qualify in.
Everything Else
All travel expenses were reimbursed, and we were put up in a hotel in Covent Garden for the night.
There were opportunities at breakfast, as well as lunch. We also had an evening outing with partners and trainees
The firm took us on a trip up the Shard in the evening, followed by dinner at the Swan Bar next to the Globe Theatre.
Mainly sports teams, but I did see some signs on the wall about a music room, so maybe much more.
So much fun, and such a good opportunity.
