The Role
emotionally draining. no individualism. Yet in retrospect in did teach me the importance of schedule.
from some, yes a great extent. from others, no I felt manipulated.
there was a sales week training course which was helpful at the start. Though we worked on our own which meat there was no help in practice.
80 hour weeks.
independent contractor which should mean 10 stars. However if we didn't work 80 hours a week, or were felt to be 'a bad influence' on others we were asked to leave.
I truly know what hard work is now! and I also appreciate the importance of a schedule.
The Company
we worked alone.
host families were already set up.
I believe certain individuals were keen to see you improve. however others seemed only interested in you doing your job for the company.
can stay on with southwestern to manage first years.
The Culture
had to maintain positivity otherwise we are branded a bad influence and asked to leave.
in America, so food was fairly cheap. First years were on foot or on bikes to travel. Some had cars.
we never went out.
working 80 hours a week leaves no opportunity for that. On Sundays we would go for a team meeting somewhere and in the afternoon would go and explore somewhere.
