About You
It was very enjoyable where you were given decent tasks to do and meetings to attend, on top of workshops and very enjoyable social events this is definitely worth attending.
You were treated as very valuable to the firm during the week of the scheme. The activities were firmly focused around you and you were given interesting work to do which was real work for the client.
We were thrown in the deep end a bit as that was the best way to learn, however if you found yourself in trouble your supervisor was more than happy to help you out.
I received many skills from this week long skills, a big focus on contracts for use in my degree. Additionally I learnt some more skills with teamwork, analytical skills etc, it has also firmly set my sights on commercial law.
The Company
The insight went seamlessly all the activities, work, meetings and workshops were structured very well. The social events went perfectly in the evening and the drinks were very enjoyable with networking.
The week was very enjoyable, the atmosphere was very relaxed with all the employees. Although sometimes it got a bit intense when the work was due.
They invested hugely in me, giving me my own office for the week with Simmons and Simmons, we were also inundated with real time work, meetings, workshops, social events and networking opportunities.
Spending a week with Simmons and Simmons gave me a huge insight into having a full time work as we impersonated the role as a trainee for the majority of the week. Doing real life work, meeting many members of staff around the firm giving a detailed insight.
I was able to see the company's culture beyond that portrayed in open days, as I saw the general day to day work in the office. The culture was relaxed and friendly, getting intense when a deadline was near.
I am definitely set on a career in city law, possibly with Simmons and Simmons as I felt the week was very enjoyable and the real life work I did was very interesting, portraying this as a suitable career for the future.
Everything Else
I was paid £250 for the week.
There were many drinks evenings after work which we could meet many employees of the firm from trainees to partners to find out about the firm.
They were very good, drinks evenings in the evening. Although they could have benefitted from a more structured and 'different' event from normal.
Talking to trainees was very informative about what they get involved in outside of work. Many events such as sporting, cultural and exciting events.
This is very informative event to go on to if you want to see first hand what a career in commercial law event is like.
