The Role
It was a good placement with lots of students to work with and interact with, you were made to feel part of a team with whom you would work closely
I did feel valued by my colleagues although now looking back on it i would of asked for more work when it was a little quiet some days
I did not have a great deal of guidance I had more guidance from my university on what i needed to do for my uni work over the year and i could ask my managers for help when i needed it
I was not terribly busy i did have some days where i had very little work and tried to stretch it out, i would also help out fellow students to keep myself busy and help them with their work load
I was given quite a bit of responsibility, the main responsibility i had over the year was to hold my own event for the particular drug i organised i had to design flyers and get a speaker in. it was a really good chance to show what i could do.
I did not really gain a lot of skills to take back to my degree as i did a marketing placement and i am doing a human resources degree, the one valuable skill i did learn was presentation skills training and managing your money wisely workshop.
The Company
It was a really good office atmosphere everyone was really easy to talk to and it created a relaxing work environment.
It was really well set up it was really good that you were not the only student and there were about 35 of us in total which created a great working atmosphere so you still are working but not loosing out on the uni lifestyle
we had lots of training when we first started so that we would be up to speed on all the systems we would use.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
It would be a really good company to go back to work with but it does depend on the area that you wish to work in.
The Culture
The social aspect was good because of the number of students that were working there, you would also live with them and would always plan socials during the week and weekend from going to the pub, cinema or even bowling it did not detract from the uni lifestyle.
The area was quite expensive to live it is Buckinghamshire where the cost for most things is very expensive so we had to be careful how much we can spend.
It was ok there were plenty of pubs and a student union apart from that there is not a lot of nightlife unless you go to places like London or Windsor
There were quite a few opportunities to go out with the sport and social to the theatre
