About You
The insight scheme was fantastic it involved case studies, work shadowing and workshops to get involved in amongst social events throughout the week to meet current employees of the firm.
The firm integrated you very well into the firm and made sure that your needs were met throughout the scheme. Your supervisor also introduced you well to the firm and made sure you could cope with any work set.
I was guided well during the insight, my supervisor made sure I could deal with any work set and gave me advice on how I could improve some work that I did. Additionally you were not spoon fed throughout and could think for yourself.
As many skills for my degree as possible. However there is a big difference between skills for my degree and real life world. I improved my skills on contract and tort law however.
The Company
The structure ran seamlessly. I was given very good work to do, the case studies were very interesting and ran smoothly and the social events in the evening went very well and was very good to meet people from the firm.
The work was varied and interesting. Additionally the workshops and case studies were very enjoyable even if there were slightly too many of them.
They invested in me greatly during the insight scheme, giving us partner, associate and trainee's time throughout. Additionally the drinks evenings in the evening were very well attended.
The week scheme gave me a very good idea into a full time role with the company as the week was mainly working in the department giving you a good idea as any.
The week insight scheme gave a very helpful insight into the company's culture which was friendly and collegiate as I could experience it first hand for the week.
It was very valuable in deciding my future career path. As I experience exciting work and got to talk with many employees of the firm giving me a good picture of life at the firm.
Everything Else
I was generously paid which more than covered all my expenses.
Many social events and lunches throughout the day giving you many opportunities to meet a wide array of employees of the firm.
They were very enjoyable with drinks evenings, dinners and lunches. Although they could have been improved with more structured events/activities in the evenings.
There were many opportunities to find out what people get involved in outside of work. Advertised a wide array of events outside of work ranging from sporting events to cultural events.
This is a perfect way to find out about commercial law in the city and see whether it is for you. And very good to do it with a firm like Hogan Lovells.
