The Role
Ups and downs, always glad I did it though
we were told we would be treated as if we were graduates but definitely not the case for most of us. although for an 18 year old straight out of school we were valued pretty well - never making coffees etc., and usually invited to all the team meetings etc. and actually contributing to stuff
I worked on two different projects and from both managers learnt a lot and was given good guidance and they were approachable
up and down - occasionally ended up staying until 7.30pm but often very bored and felt I shouldn't leave before 6pm although I probably should've been more active in asking for extra stuff to do
a decent amount for an 18 year old - created quite a few documents which after review were given to the client, sometimes I did feel though that they could've given me better stuff to do instead of giving me things to pass the time
hard skills: lots of Microsoft eg excel, visio, powerpoints soft skills: maturity, confidence, what the working world is really like
The Company
people were pretty hard working but there was conversation that definitely went beyond small talk and sometimes there was a bit of banter and I became good friends with the younger people in the office
very well - training week (although not sure that what we learnt was completely relevant), lots of intern events, HR support if needed
training week, opportunity to come back, learnt lots
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
would prefer to do some work experience somewhere else first, but graduates definitely have a good time here
The Culture
yep - the younger ones on the project went out almost every Tuesday night, on my first project a lot of people met up at weekends and went on holiday together too, lots of intern events organised by HR too
London so expensive (although I was actually out of town through the week so food and travel was all paid for - amazing!)
London so good (but expensive and not one area for going out), during the week my first project nightlife was crap - small town with no bars/clubs, second project much better
every sports club you can think of, clubs/societies across projects and work streams as well as across the whole firm
