About You
It was honestly a really enjoyable experience - the professionals at HSBC were incredibly helpful and talking to them was really useful with regards to getting to know about banking, the activities and presentations were interactive and both useful and interesting, and the insight as a whole provided a unique insight into all parts of HSBC's Investments arm, which includes Markets, Global Banking and Global Asset Management.
Given the seniority of bankers who we interacted with, it was clear that we felt valued.
As it was an insight, there wasn't any work shadowing, but the guidance we were given about applying for future roles at HSBC (or any other bank) was really useful.
The information we received is certainly very useful for applying to future roles.
The Company
It was very well structured - rather than focusing on one narrow part of the bank, we had the opportunity to learn about each different area through a range of presentations, Q&A sessions, interactive activities and conversations with graduates, and the way it was put together made it interesting.
The atmosphere was great, it's clear from the attitude of the people who work at HSBC that it is a genuinely great place to work, and that they really enjoy it.
As it was an insight, there was obviously no personal training or development, but in context of it being an insight program, we had speakers and activities that did focus on personal development.
One of the best aspects of the program was the opportunity to talk in depth to graduates and associates alike about their full time role, so it really did help.
Throughout the program they stressed how HSBC's culture was different from many of its competitors, and the corporate values that differentiate them from their competitors.
Everything Else
The hotel was really nice, travel was provided in the form of a shuttle bus to the 8 Canada Square in the morning, and back to the hotel in the evening, and dinner expenses were reimbursed.
Plenty - throughout the program we had the opportunity to interact with employees, and on the first and last nights there were networking events, and there is another opportunity for those on the spring program to network this summer.
Very useful and enjoyable.
Talking to the graduates and associates, it is clear there are lots of charitable activities that employees can get involved in outside of work.
Certainly, it was a very useful and informative program, and thoroughly enjoyable.
