About You
It was an enjoyable insight week. Learning was fun although the prospect of constantly being assessed can be slightly daunting.
Every individual is treated well but you tend to realize that there are some really talented people from other universities and it does indeed take something special to stand out.
Help was always available and staff members generally very receptive.
You develop a better sense of the financial services industry and how work processes are structured.
The Company
Very intense. A week full of assessments and lots of learning!
Throughout the week the atmosphere and ambiance was very warm and welcoming. Individuals across divisions shared the passion for the bank and this is something that really stood out.
There were a number of skill development workshops throughout the week (i.e. communication, self-development, presentation skills)
Job shadowing was a good element of the insight week. While one can never truly know what it is like to have a full time role, the job shadows serve as a good taster.
The insight week definitely helped a lot in terms of understanding company culture. Knowing the company culture is so important before landing a full time job. Your personality should match the organisation culture, just like a perfect couple. At the end of the week I definitely knew that this was an environment I would love to be a part of.
Everything Else
Expenses reimbursed at the end of the week.
Every session was filled with networking opportunities although one really needs to have the skill to network and extract as much as possible. This is never presented to you in a platter anywhere.
No. Didn't really get a chance to find out about work-life balance.
Yes. Great way to understand the culture at RBS while learning more about the key functions of the respective division.
