    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • IBM is a great company to work for. Comparing my opinion to opinions of my peers some would agree and some would disagree. I think this is all down to how much effort you put in. Also what team you end up in during the matching process. Advice would be: Make sure you are clear in the recruitment process what business unit you wish to work in.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremely valued. I would say like family. I am going to be very sad to leave, but its a great experience that i will be taking away as well as friendships.

  • I had complete support and guidance from start to finish during my 13 months at IBM. My managers we very senior within IBM so you would think that getting quality time with them would be hard... that was not the case.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a large amount of responsibility after 3 months. This responsibility has built and built with time and I call a lot of decisions.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This is experience in all has been amazing i couldn't have asked for a better placement. I landed on my feet in one of the most valued client facing teams in IBM. In the space of 13 months I have learn't more from this experience than I have from university in the past 3 years. I would highly recommend going for a placement with IBM. A word of advice to any student looking for a placement/internship. All it takes is persistence and a bit of hard work and you will get one.

  • Its no google office. But its a professional atmosphere and and can get quite buzzing at times when BIG deals are on. I also enjoyed the privilege of working on a IA (integrated account) because it meant i got to travel to client site quite regularly which mixes up the week.
