    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Both projects I worked on were great as the team were fantastic. The people at Accenture really make the experience one worth having. I would definitely take the opportunity to repeat the last 8 months with the experience I gained.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As a team we were very close, this made working together easy and much more effective. They were all very welcoming and respectful. We were able to get to know one another better with the numerous team lunches - especially nandos Friday!!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Every question asked was answered with ease and enthusiasm. The team were extremely helpful and encouraging. Management were very supportive and always made the time to answer questions and give advice. They also went out of their way to encourage and ensure things were running smoothly.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were times when the project was extremely busy with many Change Requests which meant working as a team was imperative. We had to be able to split the work so that nobody had to work over time. There were also times when there wasn't as much work but this lead to other tasks to be completed that wasn't always possible when it was busy. This lead to a perfect balance and the work was either completed before the deployment date or the on time.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility, being in charge of change request from end - to - end. This was not a daunting experience as those in the team were very supportive.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Very much so. The main skill I learned was to have the confidence to take charge in a meeting and get your own point across. I received much training that will be indispensable in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • We were always having a good time in the office and the rapport between the team was amazing. We all got on and regularly went to lunch together. We were able to have a good time as well as get the work done swiftly.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Mostly the internship was organised well. The first week was very exciting and was good fun. At the same time as learning much more about the company and how it works. However it very much depends on which project as to how the rest of the internship pans out over the next few months.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of the team I was in they invested a lot of time aiding my personal development, whether that be with the software or the communications side of things. The first week is spent in intensive training but this gives a great opportunity to meet with the other interns and get to know them better.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • After the Horizons Internship the offer available is the Summer internship which would take place in the summer of the 2nd year in University. This gives a great opportunity to keep up with contacts made in the horizons placement as well as making new contacts before potentially joining the company as a Graduate.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were many events in which we could meet with the other interns on the placement. Whether this was organised by HR or by a select few interns. We meet up many times over the 8 months and they were a great bunch of people.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Okay, so London is quite expensive place to eat, but many interns were placed on projects out of town. This lead to expenses being paid. Many of the projects are based outside of London which lead to reduced living costs.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I worked in Crawley, the nightlfe there was not fabulous, but it was only a short train journey to London were there are endless opportunities to go on clubbing. There are some great places in London and out of town projects to go for the nightlife.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were plenty of opportunities to go out. Projects have about one event per month - most of these take place in London as this is central for most employees.
