About You
It was really enjoyable, and I learnt a lot in such little time. They managed to cram so many different things into the 5 days
The Graduates were all really lovely and willing to help and answer any questions. Some of them got us to help out in interactive ways so that we actually felt like we were doing something useful.
The recruitment team were great in making sure that we knew what we were doing, they looked after us if we needed anything, they made the whole experience much less intimidating.
Not so much in my degree studies. But if I do go into a career in investment banking then the skills I have learnt will definitely come in use.
The Company
The recruitment team made sure that everything ran smoothly and we always knew where we needed to be.
Everyone we met was really enthusiastic and seemed genuinely excited to meet us, which made the whole experience much more enjoyable. It was a really nice atmosphere to be in.
We spent a lot of the time doing skills development sessions, to improve public speaking etc.
The work-shadowing definitely gave an insight into what working there would be like, however 5 days is too short a time to really get a full idea.
They made a big point of making sure we were aware of what Barclays were doing to change their bad reputation.This largely focused on the positive culture that they were encouraging within the company.
It was very useful, as before this week, I had no idea what I wanted to do in the future. Now I definitely am more inclined to taking the investment banking path.
Everything Else
They gave us £250 for the weeks expenses as well as reimbursing any travel costs for getting to London. They also offered free accommodation for the week.
They gave us a lot of opportunity to meet people within the company, from graduates to senior managers.
It was interesting meeting all the different people, especially considering that they were often very important and busy people. The events were in amazing locations.
There is some opportunity to get involved in various charity work and local initiatives.
If they are interested in a career in banking or like working with numbers then they would definitely benefit from this week.
