About You
Fantastic combination of hard work, networking and socialising with the other students.
The speakers and mentors seemed to really value our potential contribution to the firm and it was obvious that a lot of time, money and effort had gone into ensuring that we had the opportunity to learn and shine.
We were allocated a mentor between two and a mentor for our presentation group. As well as being able to freely email those we met at networking events, the support network was perfect.
I learnt volumes about the Investment Banking industry and culture, as well as the more technical aspects of valuation, risk management and financing.
The Company
We were constantly busy and never for a moment devoid of things to learn and do.
It was extremely useful to see the how productive and motivated the professionals working at JP are. This ensured the atmosphere among us students equally intense and competitive.
Shy of paying us, JP invested in every area possible to ensure we were able to make the most of our time at JP and learn as much as possible.
We learnt as much as we could from talking to the staff at JP but were unable to shadow an actual IB or IB Risk desk, purely because of the private nature of industry. This is unfortunate but unavoidable. However, maybe it would be possible to at least be shown around the building to see a desk or two and not necessarily have access to any private information.
The week really clarified what I am looking forward in a future career.
Everything Else
To the extent that there was rarely a chance to eat, we were never devoid of opportunities to meet new people at the firm and understand more and more about banking as a whole from the inside.
I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the other students on the programme and learn so much from the people at JP and the project we were set.
