About You
A day after which I felt I had a much better grasp of the consulting industry and in what area I feel I would be best suited.
The consultants and individuals running the programme appeared to be very interested to hear from you and talk with you. This fostered a relaxed, yet professional atmosphere.
Those leading the sessions were very clear and excellent presenters; information was thus delivered concisely and suitable support was given for the various interactive activities.
The business games and examples from the consultants of their current work, were very insightful into the industry and gave guidance as to what skills are needed to be successful.
The Company
The whole range of business areas were covered and the logistics were very smooth.
It was a tightly packed, but smooth and enjoyable day. A good balance between being talked at, talked to and doing.
It was made clear on the insight programme the effort and importance placed on training throughout the company in the various programmes and business areas it operates in.
During the day we heard from associates who talked about projects they were currently working on and why they joined Towers Watson. We also partook in some business games, trying to simulate some working practises that one might do if working as an associate; these were both enjoyable and showed, to an extent, what skills are needed to be a successful consultant.
There was a recurring theme of why individuals had joined Towers and this reflected the company culture; a relaxed, fun, yet professional atmosphere within a company achieving very highly and striving to be the best in the industry.
The information given was clear, insightful and apparently genuine; this gave me an indication of what area of consulting I feel would suit me best and also what company.
Everything Else
All my expenses were covered, hassle free!
Throughout the sessions there were opportunities to talk to associates and ask specific questions one to one. There was a long session at lunchtime where there were many consultants open to talking to us. The whole day was essentially run by consultants and those managing consultants, it was thus a great insight as we were hearing from those that were actually doing. One of the sessions was even done by one of the directors of a certain business area.
It was great having the opportunity to speak to some of the other candidates on the programme, hearing about their plans for the future and their thoughts on the industry.
Having spoken to a few of the associates one to one I was able to ask questions on their balance of leisure and work.
A great opportunity to gain a more in depth knowledge of the consulting industry and a chance to speak to those actually 'doing'! Highly recommended.
