About You
It was one of the most amazing experiences I have had. The pace was very fast and it was intense however I learnt an unbelievable amount in only two weeks.
Everyone made me feel extremely welcome and as if I was a part of the company.
We had weekly feedback meetings and many sessions with real analysts. If we had a problem while we were there then we knew who we could go to.
I learnt many important things including how to be concise and adapt the length of argument depending on who I am speaking to. I learnt to be prompt and the importance of networking.
The Company
We knew exactly where we were supposed to be all of the time and so a lot of activities and seminars were packed into a very short space of time.
It was very busy and intense because everyone was working really hard. However people always had some time for you if you asked them.
It felt as if a lot of effort and training was put into each of us and we were treated as individuals not just 'one of the interns'. They seemed to want to get the most and the best out of everyone.
We did slightly different activities to the people who are actually working, however we had desks near to the real analysts and so we saw what they actually do when they are working.
We even had seminars on the culture of the company. It is very important to the company and it is one of the aspects that I find most attractive.
It allowed me to decide whether I enjoyed and was interested in the finance industry.
Everything Else
We were paid and received some travel expenses and we were provided with accommodation.
I went to a women's networking lunch and there were many other networking events.
Everyone was very willing to meet us and were fascinating to talk to.
There are some activities like charity fundraising events. The employees seemed to socialise after work sometimes. Everyone works very long hours however so I don't think they had that much time.
It was an amazing opportunity so definitely apply if you think you would be interested and would like to learn. However I did quite long hours so make sure that is something you don't mind doing.
