About You
The spring week at HSBC was informative, concise, and a great opportunity to meet a wide variety of people ranging from professionals in banking to similarly ambitious students as myself.
Despite only being students we were taken seriously and given the opportunity to interact with employees at all levels of the firm. To me this was a testament to HSBC's culture and makes me feel confident that working there would give you a strong chance to develop yourself and your network.
I was given a lot of personal and specific advice on how to move further with the company and every day was organised with precision and followed a preplanned structure.
I learnt valuable networking skills along with banking specific knowledge through case studies and Q&A sessions which is unparalleled by any research I have done on the internet.
The Company
I have attended similar programmes at other well-known banks and accountancy firms and can confidently say that this was the most well organised of them all.
The days were very intense and we had a lot of information to take on board but in my eyes this is a good reflection of what a job in banking will entail so this did not take away from the enjoyment and atmosphere of the programme.
HSBC spared no expense when it came to networking skills sessions and division-specific information and presentations.
Networking with employees of all levels in different environments (both in the headquarters and in bars) meant I had a very good opportunity to learn about what the culture was really like at HSBC.
Before I started the programme I thought I was interested in a completely different area but having completed the programme I am now confident of the division where I wish to pursue my career and hope it is with HSBC.
Everything Else
I did not require expenses to be reimbursed but the offer was there.
There were lots of opportunities to speak to many different employees every day of the insight.
It was sometimes hard to think of new questions to ask people at many different networking events but the opportunity was always there.
Definitely would recommend. I learnt more in these few days about banking and HSBC than I have read elsewhere in the last year.
