    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Working in Welwyn Garden city was a very much hands-on experience and it tough me a lot. It was a good chance to learn valuable marketing skills and also act pro-actively and make it as interesting as I wanted it to be.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Great team, variety of people in different ages and from different backgrounds but everyone is very friendly and supportive.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was always able to ask for an advice or discuss any issues that I am having and I would receive guidance on how to solve it or who could be able to help me.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The work is very much based on communication with people around Europe so sometimes it depends on how quickly they respond. However, I could always find useful things to do to help my team when I am not very busy.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsible work so it required quite a lot of confidence and knowledge to do it myself. But when I did learn, it felt really good!

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Definitely good insight into marketing and the business overall. Received some technical skills which will be useful but at the same time learnt how to operate and work in a big company.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Marketing team is very friendly and warm but there are only 6 people as the office is not that big. It can be a bit quiet when people are working from home as students cannot do that...

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There were not a lot of student activities going on - we had to organise everything ourselves. Nothing was really organised centrally in terms of the social life. The structure of the placement itself was good, well balanced with monthly/weekly/daily activities.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There are a lot of resources available, however, it was very much pro-active. I was advised to go around and talk to different people from other departments but had to organise all of that myself as well.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are not a lot of chances in WGC office due to the limited resource in here. There could possibly be a chance to come back to the HQ but it was not yet discussed or proposed.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good indeed! There are 13 placement students in WGC which is just a perfect amount alowing to hang out together and not to break into smaller groups. There is almost always something for the weekend!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It is quite good comparing to London prices! I live in a new 1 bed flat on the main road and it costs same as it would for one room in central London.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not much as there are only about 3 pubs, no clubs. Hatfield is near which is a descent night out. London is only 20 minutes away by train but it is either 1am or 6am on our way back so that is not that convenient.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not many. We have a free company gym on site so they do classes during lunch time. Other than that, there is a football and a softball team and that is about it.

    2/5
