The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement and found the experience very helpful, allowing me to solidify my understanding of what I learned at university
My colleagues welcomed me to the team and got me involved in activities immediately after starting my placement.
The guidance provided by the mentors was fantastic. They are always aware of what the student wishes to get out of the placement and are willing to recommend training opportunities and projects which are relevant to the students university course
On occasion I had a little too much work, however this was noticed by my mentor and quickly remedied to allow me to have a great balance of work
I was given more responsibility as my placement progressed. Initially, as I was learning the systems used and the components, I was guided quite a lot with my work, however as I started to settle in and understood the best way to utilise the systems available my responsibilities soon increased allowing me to be in charge of my own projects with minimal input from others
I have participated on training courses, such as project management, which have taught me skills that I can use in all areas of work and in some instances in my personal life. The placement was very helpful to me and has opened my eyes to how businesses work and how I should be conducting projects in the future
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was fun, however there was a drive to get work done as quickly as possible to the best of our abilities. Colleagues were always in good spirits and ready to help out if I ever needed it
The placement scheme at CTT was very well organised and allowed me to settle into my position quickly
The company had many training opportunities available which I was able to participate in if my work plan allowed it. I was always encouraged to go on the training courses to help me understand the components in greater detail and also to help me when I return to university.

Company Parties/Events
I have the opportunity to do a graduate scheme with the company once I have completed my university course.
The Culture
There were meetings organised with the other placement students at the start of the placement (and a meet and greet before) which allowed us to meet who we would be working with and start organising socials to get to know eachother. My team had frequent meals and social events after work which we organised ourselves. We also had to organise the placement socials which became easier as the placement went on and we got to know eachother
The living costs were manageable. If I had shared a house with others it would have been cheaper, however I chose to rent a flat just outside of town. The social events were always planned around budgets and were therefore suitable for everyone involved
The nightlife in Huddersfield is okay, however we also have Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield nearby so the nights out can be planned in advance and would be very good.
The sports and social society had a large variety of social events which could be booked on weekends and evening. There were also places to organise fun teambuilding activities around town, such as laser tag, which were affordable and easy to book.
