The Role
My role was great due to the freedom and support given allowing me to develop my own idea's and self confidence within the business.
My team welcomed instantly as one of them, I was involved in high level projects and never assigned "get me some tartan paint" type tasks.
My supervisor was extremely helpful, always had time for me if I had any concerns, encouraged me to develop myself through allowing me time off to attend training courses.
This is a tough question to answer, because never ever did I have nothing to do, but work seemed to be in great quantity or lacking, however research projects were used as gap fillers.
I was never treated as a placement/intern, from the word go, I was involved in critical projects undertaking vital tasks.
Everyone at Cummins promotes development, training courses are many and varied, you can get training technically in physics or even personal development training such as presentation skills. I have enrolled on as much training as possible (time away from the desk!) and feel they have been very beneficial.
The Company
Although it could be a little quiet at times, everyone was freindly and willing to help if required.
I landed feet up on day one, ready to work with everying prepared for me to start. throughout the year support has been available.
There was more training than I could attend! Also special events are also undertaken that you can get involved with, for example I represented the company in London at a 3 day science event (all expenses paid).
Subsidised Canteen

Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Chance to get involved with a graduate scheme are both possible and encouraged.
The Culture
Due to the high investment into placements, there was plenty of us here, which meant countless nights out, socializing outside of workhours ect..
Accomodation is very cheap, and socializing is simple... don't go to the champagne bar every night!
The local nightlife is what you make of it, big cities however are only a short train journey away, with trains running back throughout the night, so nothing to sniff at!
The social club at work has a constant feed of day trips, events and activities to get involved in, all you have to do is sign up! (shy bears get no cake).
