The Role
I found the whole experience very enjoyable. It helped to gain some experience of what I can expect to do during my career.
I did feel valued by other members of the department. Often being asked to help out on new tasks if others work load was high.
I always felt that I could ask for advice when I needed it from my manager, department and company collegues.
I always had lots to do and a good mix of projects. Some of which I worked on independantly and others where I was part of a larger group.
I felt I was given quite a lot of responsibility during my placement. I was responsible for designing & developing a new test procedure and guiding a research collaboration project with a local university.
I feel that the skills and advice I received particularly that relating to experimental testing will be of definite use during the rest of my time at university and throughout my career.
The Company
Atmosphere was good. Everybody was approachable and willing to help.
Some minor issues with getting set up on the computer system to start with but after that things were very well organised. I had a good wide variety of tasks/projects to work on.
I was able to attend a couple of training events whilst on placement. One which served as an introduction to turbocharging for new company employees and another for guidance using a new CAD package.

I definitely intend to apply during the coming year. Unfortunately due to the economic climate at the time the situation regarding future Graduate positions was not clear.
The Culture
I got on well with the other placement students. It was interesting to hear about courses at other universities.
I was able to live with my parents whilst on placement.
Generally good.
There was a group within the company for graudate and placement students to organise events.
