About You
The whole of the talent academy was by far and away the best programme I have ever attended. I enjoyed every second of it, including the assessments. It was a shame to leave after the 3 days finished.
The employees treated us like colleagues and there was a sense that we were already working there. Likewise the partners at the dinner and networking events were interested in our career aspirations and truly wanted to know more about us.
All of the exercises were well explained and signposted. There was a large joining booklet with timetables, handouts, case studies and various other material which guided us through the 3 days. Equally, the PwC recruiters were always on hand to answer questions
The skills I developed were definitely transferable but I valued the phone feedback a few weeks later more than anything. It was a detailed recount of the exercises and the assessments and areas to improve on for future reference.
The Company
It was set out in the timetable and we stuck to that throughout the 3 days. There was a great balance between serious assessments, fun and instructive case studies, free time and networking events. We had a chance to explore as well as relax!
The atmosphere was brilliant! Everyone there had a similar mindset and a desire to succeed. We were inspired by the location and the pace of the 3 days and it is easy to see why so many people applied for the positions available.
There was a lot of time and effort put into making the academy a success. It has only been running for a few years. The feedback was detailed and we were clearly being watched throughout the programme for this very reason. PwC take the majority of their summer interns from the talent academies so, to this extent, I have been very highly invested in!
The networking events and the Q and A sessions allowed us to quiz the employees in the different service lines. The networking was informal and relaxed and it was more interactive and informative than most networking sessions.
The company culture was evident from the very start of the programme. There is a work hard play hard attitude and everyone is very passionate about their positions and their service lines. Equally, most of the people I spoke to had interesting outside of work activities and hobbies.
It made me realise how much I wanted to work for PwC and definitely apply for consulting (which I have done). The networking evenings were the most useful for these decisions as I was able to question every little detail.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed all expenses and even had an extra night at the hotel due to travel
There were two networking evenings out of three. The first one was with graduates from the previous years who knew about the talent academy and had gone through the same system. The second event was with senior partners and was equally as good.
The sit down meals and stand-around-chatting networking events were great fun. They were made the more relaxed by the great food and chatty atmosphere and the free drinks vouchers which definitely went down a treat!
There was a lot of detail from the networking about social responsibility but there was also a focus on sports and other interests. They even said at one point they prefer applications with slightly lower grades as long as they have a wide range of interests and hobbies.
Yes! Without a doubt the best thing you will ever do! All 3 days were jam-packed full of fun events and I did not want to leave afterwards!
