The Role
My tasks were quite mixed, I found some very interesting but then others were repetitive and a bit boring.
I was given work that needed to be done for our department to reach our deadlines - fopr example I had several tasks during month end in order to complete our reporting of structural cost for that month.
If I ever struggled with a task my manager and colleagues were very happy to give me support. They were all very approachable.
The first week or two of the month had a good balance of work, with monthend reporting needed to be carried out. But unfortunately the rest of the month didnt seem to be busy enough - I was given a few more tasks through the year in order to increase my workload, which was good.
I had various tasks that I was completely responsible for, and was expected to carry out with the highest efficiency possible.
I have impoved my computer based skills massively during my placement, which will help in work opportunities in the future. I have also seen theory from my course in practice, which has improved my understanding.
The Company
Got on with all my colleagues, with everyone being approachable.
There was a good handover - the scheme has been going on for a long time so it is run well.
Improvement in my excel training through various sessions, led to me becoming an excel trainer and helping to run sessions with general employees within the company.
I would come back to work for Vauxhall, it would depend on the job role.
The Culture
Lived with ten other undergrads, we all got on and there was a good mix with all the undergrads at work.
You could go out on a relatively cheap budget.
Standard small town, couple of bars and a liquid.
A few opportunites at various trips.
