The Role
First 6 months I learnt alot of new skills and took on great responsibilites. I faced some challenges such as my whole department leaving me and work reduction.
I felt quite valued, every one worked well as a team.
Given good support when you need it. You are assigned a mentor.
First 6 months, good work load and always something to do. 6 months later... work reduced a lot and at times not much to do. Even when you ask for work it's not necessarily skill improving.
Given great responsibility, able to host meetings and handle contracts worth around £1 million.
The office skills such as excel will definately help with my data analysis at uni. Presenting skills will be useful when presenting in groups.
The Company
First 6 months were great... now with merely 5 people in my department its less lively. But luckily there are undergrads around that you can go speak to.
The first 2 weeks of introduction to other undergrads and managing directors was a good starting point. The activities to get us involved was great. There was uncertainty with my role. I felt I could have used the opportunity to shadow other members of the business to get a fuller experience but it was not an option.
There were a lot of great training opportunities to enhance your skills such as benchmarking.
Flexi Time
National Travel
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Not very appealing in my circumstance but it may differ for different roles. Not many graduate schemes are offered and I feel it should be focused here.
The Culture
Social scene with undergrads were great. The social part actually made working better giving a good balance between work and social.
I lived at home. From what I know the rent and cost of livining in Luton is reasonable.
Nightlife isnt the greatest. Places such as watford, milton keynes and london are the better options to go out.
Our wider department get involved in fun activities such as TopGolf, Go karting etc. theres cinemas, restaurants and cheap gyms.
