    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • First 6 months I learnt alot of new skills and took on great responsibilites. I faced some challenges such as my whole department leaving me and work reduction.

    2/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt quite valued, every one worked well as a team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Given good support when you need it. You are assigned a mentor.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • First 6 months, good work load and always something to do. 6 months later... work reduced a lot and at times not much to do. Even when you ask for work it's not necessarily skill improving.

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Given great responsibility, able to host meetings and handle contracts worth around £1 million.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The office skills such as excel will definately help with my data analysis at uni. Presenting skills will be useful when presenting in groups.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • First 6 months were great... now with merely 5 people in my department its less lively. But luckily there are undergrads around that you can go speak to.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The first 2 weeks of introduction to other undergrads and managing directors was a good starting point. The activities to get us involved was great. There was uncertainty with my role. I felt I could have used the opportunity to shadow other members of the business to get a fuller experience but it was not an option.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were a lot of great training opportunities to enhance your skills such as benchmarking.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    National Travel

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Not very appealing in my circumstance but it may differ for different roles. Not many graduate schemes are offered and I feel it should be focused here.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Social scene with undergrads were great. The social part actually made working better giving a good balance between work and social.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home. From what I know the rent and cost of livining in Luton is reasonable.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife isnt the greatest. Places such as watford, milton keynes and london are the better options to go out.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Our wider department get involved in fun activities such as TopGolf, Go karting etc. theres cinemas, restaurants and cheap gyms.
