    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My role was very varied and I assisted a variety of channels which kept things fresh and interesting. I was given large amount of responsibility and felt that my contribution was important and recognised.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremely valued by my colleagues, my work was very beneficial to individuals and also my department as a whole. My colleagues of all levels were always very proactive in reinforcing that my work was important.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • This is the area that has really stood out for me, not only on a work level but also on a personal level. I always felt I had support and guidance. I was made to feel very comfortable in asking questions and my manager and others always offered their assitance when required. This filtered through to when I had to complete an essay as part of my course requirements, people were willing to give me their time in order to help me complete this.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Always have things to do, but like any job it can vary between having hectic days and days with a bit less pressure. Overall I would say I was consistently busy.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Large amounts of responbility, without doubt a case of being thrown in at the deep end but this promoted a very large learning curve which will be highly beneficial in the future.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Believe I have learnt and acheived more this year than 2 years so far at univiersity. Without doubt has given me confidence going forward especially with applying to graduate jobs due to the experience I have gained.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very comfortable environment and in my department there was definitely office banter which is always healthy.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Vauxhall have a very good placement set-up. With around 80 Undergraduates at the Luton site alone proves they believe in the undergraduate programme.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Always opportunities for training and personal development. to an extent it depends how proactive you are, but if there is something you wish to do and it will help your development Vauxhall encourage this.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Vauxhall do offer graduate jobs but they will approach you instead of a scheme that you can apply for. At the end of your placement you get the opportunity to state if you would wish to be considered in the future or not. however they dont take on grads on a huge scale.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 80+ placemement students which allowed for the university social aspect to be maintained at work.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very cheap rent

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Luton is renowned for not being the most appealing of places, however it can certainly be made fun with a large group of placement students. the nightlife is poor in comparison to what most people were used to but can still be fun. Also close to london which is an advantage, alternatives are available, quite often a minibus would be booked for a large group to go to somewhere like Watford.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • A variety of activities that you can get involved with football etc etc

    4/5
