The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed the year, learnt a lot about the business world and also the office environment.
My colleagues have been extremely friendly and helpful throughout my placement. If I've had any problems then someone has always been happy to help me. I have been on nights out with colleagues too and had a good laugh
Had all the help I've asked for, they're not too pushy but if you need support then it's always there for you.
With the job I'm in you tend to get busy and not so busy periods. A lot of work is interacting with suppliers, engineers etc. so you often have to wait for a reply before you can move a task to the next step.
I was given good responsibilty for an undergraduate, the supplier rings me if there are any issuesl. It is good that you always have help from colleagues if you need it though. They know when the time is right to step in.
I don't think they will help me in my degree. However I have learnt a lot about purchasing, and how suppliers work which I will definitely be taking into my next job with me.
The Company
Can't ask for any more. Had a great laugh but you're also able to get your head down and work when needed. I've always been made to feel comfortable in the office.
Vauxhall deal with many placement students so know how to deal with the handover period and any other issues.
Offered training on excel, presentations and programmes that we use in the job.

Very little chance of getting a job here after, there just aren't the jobs to go around. The placement should put me in with a good chance of getting a job at another company though.
The Culture
Plenty of people around so the opportunities to socialise are there if you want to.
Luton is cheap by southern standards. If you're coming from the north though get used to paying over £3 for a pint!!!
It's terrible. Little variety and Luton isn't a pleasant place to socialise in anyway.
Football, nights out, plenty of undergrads about to socialise with.
