The Role
I have really enjoyed my time on the Vauxhall undergraduate scheme, they offer you lots of opportunities to get involved and really learn from your time at the placement.
As an undergraduate placement student at Vauxhall you get given lots of responsibility, and experience on real life projects, so naturally you are really vauled within the company and by colleagues.
The support and guidance at Vauxhall is very good - you get given a mentor at the beginning of the year who is there for you as and when you would like to chat. The managers at Vauxhall are also great, I am very lucky to have a very close knit team and therefore have lots of support.
As my role is a new one this year - I have had a variance of how busy I have been. However, there is also the chance to make yourself more busy if you speak out and find places/pieces of work to be done.
I have had a great amount of responsibility at Vauxhall, with the chance to be the lead on a European wide project and the chance to work and meet many members of the Opel/Vauxhall leadership team.
A chance at placement really allows you to develop on your communication skills and the general team working skills that will help you in any job for the furture. You also learn a lot more about the business enviroment that is not easy to portray in a classroom environment.
The Company
Whilst being on Placement I have moved 3 times - whether it be changing offices or moving desks and every place I have been in has had a great atmosphere and everyone has been really friendly.
The overall set up of placement was good, within the first 2 weeks you are introduced to the placemetn scheme and your role. You are never left in the 'lurch' without any information and you will always know someone who knows the answer!
Whilst working with the IT department I have had to chance to get involved in many training courses and really take advantage of what both the company and the scheme in general has to offer.

Working from home
I would really like to come back and work within the IT department at Vauxhall. Although there is not a direct application process for the graduate scheme, it would be something that interests me - if I were to be offered a chance at applying.
The Culture
There was a really good social environment at Vauxhall. For the first 2 weeks we stayed in a Halls with all the other undergraduates and this gave us a chance to get to know everyone and form friendships.
Very resonable in terms of rent and general socialising costs!
Thursday nights are good time to go out - as it is the student night out. You are also very close to London and Watford - which are good for a night out!
Vauxhall encourage their employees to get involved with Charity work - so there are opportunities to get involved with this such as; the london to brighton bike ride. The undergraduate programme also have a project where you get to visit schools and aid the learning about Vauxhall.
