About You
Very well organised, there was a diverse schedule in place
There were always current Barclays staff from a number of different backgrounds available to discuss both the company and the day-to-day job more generally. At the end of the insight week, there was an individual careers discussion for each person.
There were interactive sessions on the company, and more generally the industry.
The Company
A detailed schedule of events was given before joining, and participants were kept busy with a diverse programme.
It was made clear at the start that participants weren't competing with each other and so there was a very social and friendly atmosphere.
There were two work-shadowing placements in different departments where participants had the opportunity both to ask questions and interactively experience what would be expected from an employee.
There was a specific session on company culture, as well as work-shadowing.
There was lots of guidance on the scope of opportunities in this sector, and the careers talk allowed participants to discuss possible career paths with current employees.
Everything Else
There were specific sessions devoted to networking and meeting employees in some evenings, as well as more informal meetings in work-shadowing placements.
A wide range of employees attended the networking events, meaning that participants could find out about many different departments of the company.
The insight week was very informative and enjoyable.
