    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The team spirit of working with other interns made the placement a greta experience.

  • My colleagues were other students and we all supported and valued one another evry much.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The team at Scottish Enterprise were very nice and support at Glasggow University was fantastic.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was a lot of work to do in a very short space of time, but the stress of each day really depended upon the team organisation and work ethic.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Everybody in the team accepted responsibility, but I acted as project coordinator for one of the consultancy projects. As interns, we were left to our own devices to complete work.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The confidence and experience I gained from the internship, as well as the local and international contacts I made, help me in my degree studies and are sure to help me in my search for graduate employment.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My project team had our won office with little supervision. Lots of fun.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The eight-week placement involved several 'cultural trips' which could have been better, but the timetabling of the work was in general very well-conceived.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Scottish Enterprise offered me valuable on-the-job experience, but very little training was given.

  • I would definately consider working with or for Scottish Enterprise again. ANd I am still in touch with the companies that I consulted for.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 16 Glasgow University students were placed with 16 Colombia students and we had a very sociable eight weeks!

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Pretty cheap, although more expensive in the summertime.

  • Glasgow nightlife is very good.

  • Lots of socialising with other interns.
