The Role
My Placement was hard work but a great experience.
I felt like a valued member of the team with my own responsibilities and was able to manage my own time and diary.
I had 3 different managers within the year so it was sometimes hard to balance but taught me about real working environments and how to get on when things are everchanging.
Very Busy, especially when preparing for important meetings. I had to do work and projects at home.
I felt that I was thrown into the deep end, given a range to develop myself and that I was responsible if I did something wrong.
I think working on a placement year has been really beneficial to my development and future choices, which will be more informed. It has also taught me how to use the skills I honed at university and what employers want from employees.
The Company
Our team was quite focussed on getting the job done, so it wasnt always very sociable but we did have team building events etc outside of work
I had a lot of training and a great induction which was helpful.
I did have a lot of relevent training and a Personal Devlopment Plan which was used to quantify my efforts throughout the year, and in my end of year review.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
As my year has not yet finished, I am yet to be told whether I will be invited back.
The Culture
There were lots of Grad events, which the placement students got invivted to as well, they were a great opportunity to mix with other employees in the wider business.
Welwyn Garden City is just outside London so it can be very pricey depending on where you go. There is very little going on in Welwyn so more social events took place in London.
There is no Nightlife in Welwyn, but it is 25 mins from London.
Most activities were team activiites and things we organised together.
